The Avocet is probably a bird that doesn’t sound familiar but when you see its picture you will definitely know this bird.
It has become pretty famous for being the emblem for the RSPB, so most people know the image well and most people have seen a few of these around.
They are mainly along the East coast in summer and old estuaries in winter. They eat quite a variety of different foods, amongst them water insects, worms and crustaceans.
