Kingfisher

Kingfishers are medium size birds that catch fish in streams
and pools.  They look very handsome and
find it easy to perch on nearby branches.

They are easy to see and look great ducking into the
water.  They fly well and look pretty
spreading their wings.

London Zoo have lots and lots of pictures of big cats that
have been at the zoo throughout its history. 
There are many other pictures and posters of big cats that you can sort
through.

There are also pictures of the new Tiger Territory.

It is nice to spend a wet weekend just digging around in all
these pictures.

London Zoo has a library and one amazing book there is
Gallery of Extinct species.  It has
marvellous illustrations for you to examine.

There is plenty to read about and you can’t really get these
books from anywhere else.

Cheetah cubs turn one

The cheetah cubs at zsl have just turn one and in
celebration they were given a fabulous birthday party.  They had their own tea party and even a
special birthday cake.

Nesting Boxes

August is the right time of the year to buy nesting boxes.  You can get them from pet shops or buy
online.  They are fairly cheap and help
the wildlife enormously.

If you own your own home you can scatter lots around your
garden.  If you rent and are on a long
term lease you can put them in your garden and just take them with you when you
move, making sure there are no small creatures in them.

Try them out, you will attract no end of wildlife into your
garden.
