The white wagtail is a very pretty black and white bird. As it walks across the grass its tail wags from side to side which is quite endearing.
These birds are seen regularly close to houses, in gardens and around schools. They feed off the generous tip bits left out by bird lovers. Because of this and the natural appeal to the public they have flourished and numbers have soared.
Their nests have to be specially built near a supply of clean fresh water, so you will find them in walls by rivers and under low hanging bridges. This makes it much easier for their young to survive once they have hatched from their eggs.
They are lovely birds and it is wonderful to watch them feeding and going about their business.
