Condor that lives close to the Andes, the people there have since ancient times had symbols identifying with the condor.
Not well liked by farmers because they blame the condor for eating their cattle. Because of this many farmers have set traps to kill them. In addition, the food sources of their natural habitat have declined and it is much harder for them to survive in this environment.
As a result, Andean condor numbers have declined rapidly over the years and there are fears that we may lose them.
They live for a long time in the right conditions with a life span of nearly 50 years and travel along the Andes all the way across Argentina up and along into Venezuela. So, they have a large territory, plenty of space and freedom.
